Canyon de
Chelly is not exactly on the beaten path. In fact, it is way off the beaten
path. But it is well worth the trip! The intense colors and magnificent
scenery are exquisite and there are beautiful Indian ruins too. If you have
the time, take one of the Navajo guided tours in the canyon. You are free
to explore the canyon rims, but the Navajo people still live in the canyon
and you need a guide to enter. Spider Rock is about 800 feet high and the canyon rims around it are about 1000 feet high.
