Spider Rock
is sacred to the Navajo people, who still live in Canyon de Chelly. Legend
has it that when the Navajos first came to live in the canyon, Spider Woman
-who lived on Spider Rock -came down and taught the Navajo women how to
weave. Spider Rock is about 800 feet high. Its very impressive! I went to
Canyon de Chelly specifically to photograph Spider Rock. Just for your information,
Canyon de Chelly is not on the way to anyplace! You have to be willing to
travel the extra 300 - 400 miles to get there. (Its worth it!)
