Mt. Shasta
is one of the southern volcanos in the Cascade Range. This range of mountains
runs from northern California through Oregon and Washington. It is very
volcanic and has many dormant, but still living, volcanos. Mt. Shasta is
one of them! Towering over 14,000 feet in elevation it is also one of the
largest. Second only to Mt. Rainier in Washington. Perhaps the most famous
of these volcanos is Mt. St. Helens which erupted recently and gave all
of us a reminder that these volcanos are still active! Why is it that danger
and beauty so often go together?
