The high
peaks in the background are all over 14,000 feet elevation. This was a favorite
climbing destination of mine. The largest glacier in the Sierra Nevada Mountains
lies in the cirque below those peaks. It is mostly hidden by the ridge in
front of it. To me, this is one of the most beautiful alpine regions of
the Sierras, a range replete with beautiful alpine areas. John Muir was
right - it is the 'Range Of Light'.
