first condo's! These beautiful ruins are truly an amazing site. To think
that they were built by a people who had no metal tools is simply mind boggling.
And, they were built well. We do not know for sure what happened to the
builders. They left no written record, nor did they pass down any oral history.
We do know that all the southwest cliff dwellings were abandoned at about
the same time. (about 1250 AD) We just are not sure why. Drought is widely
speculated to be the cause. But nobody is sure. And what happened to the
people. No one knows! Native Americans simply call them "The Ancient
Ones".
