This is part
of my 'Vanishing Americana' series of photographs. Ghost towns are among
my favorite places to photograph. Perhaps it's because I was raised in Wyoming
and can relate to the 'wild west'. Most of us are quite nostalgic about
our past, and one of the favorite eras is certainly the 'Gold Rush'. This
building is located in Nevada City. Why those gold prospectors insisted
on naming their towns after other states is something I often ponder. (They
must have been homesick.) Just up the road about 2 miles is Virginia City.
Both are in Montana!
