One of the
all time great mountain lake views. St. Mary's Lake with Wild Goose Island,
surrounded by beautiful mountains. A real classic. Don't plan on taking
this exact same photo though. The small trees in the foreground are now
large trees and block the view of the lake. The overhanging branch is also
the victim of time and weather. We tend to look at nature as not changing,
because it usually happens so slowly. But it does happen. I took this photo
in the late 1960's. When I was there in 2002 quite a lot had changed, mostly
natural (thank goodness - except for global warming that is melting the
glaciers).
