I do not
believe that this balancing act can last much longer (at least in geologic
terms). This rock is hanging on by the most precarious margin, and it is
a huge rock! I would not want to be in very close proximity when gravity
finally wins out. Note the similarly precarious rock poised on top of the
background formation. There are balanced rocks all over the place in Arches
National Park. If you go to the Park Avenue view point and look to the left,
there is another one. This one, however, appears to be the biggest one (that's
easily accessible at least).
