I arrived
at Mesa Arch just at sunrise. As might be expected, there were some other
photographers there. Actually, there were a lot of photographers there!
There was not even anyplace for me to set up my tripod for the photo I wanted.
They were all getting a very famous shot of the sun rising above the horizon
under Mesa Arch. A very nice, if common, photograph. Just as soon as they
all got that shot they left and there I was alone, with all this beauty!
I wanted a shot that I knew would occur a short while after sunrise, when
the early morning light would reflect off the cliff face below the arch
and add some detail to the rock formations in the background and also light
up the underside of the arch. One of those background formations is called
'The Washer Woman'. Can you spot her?
