I assume
this was used to harvest hay and alfalfa used to feed the livestock. Another
clever farm implement that used draft animals for power. These old farm
implements were very adequate for use on the small farms of the time, in
fact, I am sure they were the mechanical marvels of their time. With a little
maintenance and lubrication they look like they would still be functional.
