This is one
of the most popular photographic subjects in the North Cascades. The beautiful
mountain is Mt. Shuksan. Since this photo was taken in late September, you
can see that it is covered with hanging glaciers. One of the most beautiful
of all the North Cascade peaks! Picture Lake is a gift, just drive up to
it and admire the view. You will probably have plenty of company as it's
a very popular spot for photographers. Best views are in the late afternoon
or during unsettled weather. Mt. Shuksan is located just inside the border
of North Cascades National Park and is therefore protected.
